Over 60 years in the making

Just Getting Started

Who We Are

Founded in 1962, the Brooklyn Community Band has been a staple of the northwest Minneapolis metro for over six decades. With approximately 45 members, we are a non-audition community band made up of adult musicians who share a love of music and performance.  We rehearse weekly on Monday evenings at North View Middle School in Brooklyn Park and perform throughout the year at community events, local parks, and senior living communities.

Our Mission

The Brooklyn Community Band exists to provide an opportunity for musicians to share their talents through the rehearsal and performance of concert band music, while enriching our community through accessible, live performances.

We are committed to fostering goodwill, connection, and a shared appreciation for music across the communities we serve.

Our History & Community Impact

For more than 60 years, the band has proudly served the communities of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center, where it was originally sponsored. Today, we continue that legacy by performing more than ten concerts each year, bringing music directly to the community—free of charge.

From summer park performances to holiday concerts and visits to senior residences, our goal has always been to create meaningful musical experiences for audiences of all ages.

Leadership

Over the years, the band has been guided by a number of dedicated directors. We are especially grateful for the leadership of our current director, David Mantini, whose tenure reflects both continuity and commitment to musical excellence. Recently, we expanded our leadership with a new Assistant Director position, and we’re pleased to have Addie Mease serving in that role.

The band is supported by a volunteer board that helps guide operations, programming, and the continued growth of the organization.

A New Chapter

As we step forward as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are entering an exciting new phase. While our roots are deeply tied to our founding communities, our future is powered by the continued support of our members, audiences, and broader community.
